A m e r i c a : N E W Y O R K // Manhattan Day 1 : Part 2
26th October 2015 | Monday
We rushed down to Wall Street as soon as we could right after buying ice cream. Poor Iris as she started to feel her feet swelling from excessive walking. Knowing I'm not a macho man who could have carried her, we took breaks between intervals until we reach the pier which is near Wall Street. Fortunately, we still made it to Wall Street and rushed to redeem our tickets for a ride to see the Statue of Liberty!
We took the Zephyr, it's a cruise ride to view the Statue of Liberty. As we cruise the Hudson River, there are sights to be seen such as the skyscrapers in Manhattan and some landmarks in Brooklyn. There's a local tour guide to narrate informative details of landmarks, interesting. It was a good weather, it's definitely relaxing to take a cruise to get a sight of the beautiful sceneries of Manhattan and Brooklyn. Iris was so glad to ride the cruise as she got to rest her tired legs, haha.
This place with cobblestone pavings is known as Stone Street, located in the heart of the financial district itself. It is surprising as this is the only place in Wall Street that have tables aligned outside. I've read that this place is usually happening during lunch time and also after working hours, too bad I was not able to witness it. We also did not plan for dinner here as we had plans for dinner elsewhere. It was already close to 6pm when we finished the ride and there were a few landmarks that we need to visit. With Iris's condition, we needed to cover the Charging Bull at least, so we went there at full thrust!
We had to get in line to take pictures of the Charging Bull, imagine the crowd! There is a lot of sayings regarding the Charging Bull. Some say that you have to grab the bull by its testicles for virility, whereas some say that you have to rub the horns and the testicles for great fortune and luck. Well, true or not, these tasks are easy to do. In my mind, I'm grateful enough that we don't have to lick the balls for that fortune, lol.
The next landmark was the Trinity Church, but it was closed the moment we arrived there. At least we got to see the exteriors of the building, it is such a beautiful piece of architecture. We only covered that much of Wall Street, with this, I believe that it will not be my last time visiting this place. Next, we decided to have an early dinner before calling it a day, so we had to get to that place!
Have you guys watched How I Met Your Mother? Iris and I were huge fans of the series! This place called McGee's where we're headed was actually an inspiration for McLaren's Pub in the TV series. We were so hyped about it since the moment we were planning the itinerary of our trip! When we saw that neon light sign, we could not contain that excitement, so so happy! Best of all, we planned to visit the place on Monday for HIMYM Monday to order the meals from HIMYM while playing the TV series.
Mc Gee's Restaurant & Pub

Hours : 11:00 AM - 4:00 AM

The place is packed especially at the bar, so we took our seats by the booth. It's generally a sports bar, and I'm a bit saddened that there was no HIMYM tv series played during our visit here. We were still very happy to actually come here, but we were hoping for the tv series to be played as we dine. We ordered The Best Burger in New York, The "Accidental Curly" Fry Basket and a cocktail called the "The Naked Man" (Remember that epic move used to get girls on bed?)
The Best Burger in New York
Price : $13
Taste : 7/10
The "Accidental Curly" Fry Basket
Price : $6
Taste : 6/10
The Naked Man
Price : $11
Taste : 5/10
The burger is tasty, the beef patty was served with a tender texture, it was comfortable to munch. The onion rings served as the sides were tasty as well whereas the salad was ordinary.
The Accidental Curly Fry Basket isn't so accidental after all, it was a basket full of curly fries. Guess it's more of a money's worth that way. Nothing special about it.
The Naked Man is more like a strong whiskey instead of a cocktail, I can't taste anything else. Iris only had several sips and I had to finish it because it wasn't to her liking.
When we finished our meal, we waited a while, hoping that they would play some episode of HIMYM. After 20 minutes past 8:00 PM, still no sign of HIMYM, we decided to call the bill and head back to our slumber.
